Remanufacturing Stetson-Ross/Coastal Lead Planer
Base annual compensation to $80,000. Family-owned, multi-plant, integrated log procurement sawmill operation is seeking three skilled planermen to oversee planer equipment changeovers at their high-end Western Red Cedar finishing facility located in Washington State. The 140-employee remanufacturing facility operates on two shifts and on partial weekends producing engineered finger-jointed and edge-glued clear finish products, panels and siding with over 400 SKU’s in customer offerings. This Canadian-based company has a unique timber resource base processing grade-sorted lumber specialty products, and has a significant customer base in the US. Customers include homebuilder markets in California, Texas, and the Eastern US. An opportunity exists for a Lead Planerman to oversee the department, since the company’s Head Planerman is retiring in 2 years. A leader in safe work practices, the company’s focus is on operator and maintenance safety and continuous improvement through creative use of all hourly, supervisory, and management personnel. North American Managing Director
Base salary to $120,000 US, plus incentive and bonus package. Search North America has been engaged by our European-based client to identify and hire a unique business manager during the first quarter of 2019. Our client is a leading-edge producer of resin impregnated paper overlay products for use by plywood and OSB panel producers focused in serving the industrial and construction-based markets. The initial focus is on customer development and product sales for their exclusive, patented product line with North American panel customers. Future plans are to build a processing plant for North American producers in the US with added new products, currently under development in Europe. The position’s initial location would be home-based. Senior-Level Plywood Mill Sales Representative
Base salary to $100,000, plus bonus package. Our client, a leading-edge producer of structural panels with annual sales around $150M, is seeking a skilled candidate with 4 or more years of structural plywood panel sales experience. Assignments would include marketing and selling a unique set of structural panel products, including mass plywood panels (MPP’s). Panels are tailored for customers’ cut-to-size specifications. This position exists with an engineered wood products company, based in Western Oregon, who is focused on reducing the costs associated with industrial and construction-based wood panel applications. Corporate Controller
Base salary up to $120,000, plus annual bonus package. Medium-sized Western Oregon based timberland and wood products manufacturing firm, with annual sales around $150 million, is seeking an experienced Controller to assist in taking the company to the next level of production and sales. Selected candidate must also have the skillset to be able to transition to the CFO position with the company within 2 years. Our client prefers to hire a 4-year college graduate who has over 5 years experience supervising all accounting functions, including corporate and payroll tax reporting in a wood products multi-plant manufacturing environment. Selected candidate should have a positive track record in implementing the latest accounting software applications in all phases of manufacturing as well as experience coordinating remote sales order reporting, monthly and fiscal year end reporting, centralized invoicing, payables, payroll, and property/payroll tax filings. (Search Assignment #6461)

Wood Products Treating Plant Operations Manager
Base salary to $105,000 with relocation and annual profit-sharing bonus packages, as well as a sign-on bonus of up to $15K. Profitable, integrated wood treating company with plants located across North America is seeking a skilled manager to oversee a newly acquired operation in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Due to the attractive existing customer base and expansive location, the company is investing in significant capital improvements and an experienced management team. Selected candidate must have a track record focused on low lost time accidents, safety issues, profit improvement, and working with skilled results-oriented sales management staff. Candidate should have a college degree and 8-10 years of experience in wood processing operation management. Production lines consist of a wide variety of treated wood products, which include utility poles, marine pilings, lumber, and plywood products. Manufacturing Plant Shift Supervisor
Base salary to $90,000 (DOE), plus generous benefit package. Our wood products based client, with a new plant operation near the northern coast of California, is expanding to a two-shift operation and requires a team leader to oversee machine operator training and safety issues in every phase of this new plant operation. Key candidate attributes include three years or more experience as a production shift supervisor (with a focus on optimization and automation), and excellent communication skills with senior management and hourly employees. Selected candidate should be a forward-thinking shift supervisor with a positive approach to a wide range of challenges during the second shift startup phase and future plant operations. Advancement beyond this initial assignment is dependent on how the selected candidate can affect the plant’s future profitability in a team-based environment. A background in lumber is not required. SYP Sawmill Maintenance Superintendent
Base salary to $110,000 with 15% bonus and attractive benefit package. Our client, who has multiple plants based in the Southeastern US, is seeking a qualified candidate with strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee all phases of the maintenance department. Selected candidate should have at least 5 years of heavy industry maintenance management with a focus on computer maintenance management system, multi-craft cross training activities (electrical, process control and mechanical), timely use of work orders, and spare parts inventory control, and purchasing. Candidate should have a track record in reducing unscheduled downtime and loss time injury rates within the maintenance department crew. (Search Assignment #6459)

Maintenance and Construction Manager
Salary to $125,000/yr, plus bonus and benefit package. Our client, in the Western US, is seeking a skilled manager with industrial electrical and mechanical experience to oversee improving current maintenance activities through applying hands-on leadership with a focus on preventive maintenance planning and implementation in the field, improving electrical and mechanical craft cross-training programs within the 20-person maintenance team (electrical, mechanical & rollingstock), establishing a high-valued computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and reducing unscheduled downtime.  In addition, client is planning to upgrade a 100KBF/shift large-log sawmill and add a new 200KBF/shift small-log sawmill within the next 24 months. Added improvements also focuses on new dry kiln and planer operations. Our client company has a significant ponderosa pine timberland base sufficient to extract log supply for lumber production beyond stated shift production targets. The focus is on maximizing the return-to-log values from the timber base through innovative marketing and sales programs. Once they have improved the small-log sawmill and senior management has approved the planer engineering details, the Maintenance Manager will then provide technical direction focused on insuring the construction schedule meets specific targets, including completion and startup with no lost time accidents. The focus is on interfacing with the architectural and construction sales staff to insure that designs satisfy all local building codes applicable to using structural wood-based components. Wood Adhesive Technologists
Our CLT and glulam clients are seeking candidates with a BS in Wood Technology and 3+ years of wood structural component testing experience to oversee the sampling and product quality testing of a wide variety of softwood lumber species in CLT components designed to meet the strength specifications developed by the APA. Customers require specific testing results on shipped products prior to receipt at the specific CLT and glulam construction sites. Projects range from preliminary design to final design, construction and startups. CAD Designers can make $3,500+ per week, Project Engineers $4,500+ per week.
