Specialty Inland Empire Cedar Sawmill Superintendent
Base salary to $100,000, depending on experience. Due to planned $10 million in capital improvements in 2020, this business unit needs to hire a qualified sawmill superintendent to oversee a headrig and high-speed small log production facility. Selected candidate must be involved in all phases of plant safety issues, operator training, and specialty log breakdown equipment installation. The long-term plan is to continue operations with added equipment specialty lumber installation projects. Selected candidate will likely be promoted into a more senior-level position if mill profits improve under the new superintendent’s management. (Search Assignment #6487)

Tree Seedling Nursery Manager
Base salary to $80,000 (depending on experience), plus a significant benefits package. Our timberlands client, located on California’s Northern Coast, is seeking a skilled candidate to oversee all phases of their nursery operation, due to the current manager’s pending retirement. 1.8 million acres of forests, in both the Western and Southeastern U.S., are under the company’s direct ownership and management. Responsibilities include managing the installation of seedling stock into a prepared greenhouse environment and transporting/transplanting two-year old seedlings onto a large timberlands environment. Selected candidate should have a BS degree in forestry and a three-year track record in supervising employees. Demonstrated positive leadership skills, focused on employee training and evaluation activities, are essential. Due to the company’s broad base of forestry operations throughout the U.S., significant future advancement opportunities exist in this privately-owned business environment. Millwork Maintenance Supervisor
Base salary up to $90,000 depending on experience, plus bonus incentives. Our client, a specialty lumber remanufacturing plant located in Northern California, is seeking a skilled supervisor to manage a crew of five millwrights and electricians. Selected candidate will oversee all phases of routine maintenance in a 70-person remanufacturing operation. Machine centers include cut stock, finger jointing, lumber profile surfacing, coating and shipping. Skillset includes being able to establish a computerized maintenance management system, and knowledge of maintenance cross-training, safety, parts supply, fabrication, and improved machine design. The need is immediate due to the recent retirement of a veteran supervisor. (Search Assignment #6484)

Plywood Shift Supervisors Job Openings in Western Oregon
Base salary $70,000+ (depending on experience), plus benefits package. Our client’s business has been focused over the years into promoting high-performance supervisors and managers into more responsible positions. Some senior-level managers are planning to retire in the near future. As a result, immediate opportunities exist to hire several shift supervisors to be trained so that they can fill these top-level roles once these managers leave. Selected candidates must have 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial-based shift supervision, and knowledge of industrial safety (both on the production machine lines and operator skill/safety training). The company’s current business focus is to expand the customer base using patented specialty products for selected construction-based customers throughout the US. (Search Assignment #6483)

Senior Wood-Based Structural Engineer
Base salary to $160,000 US, plus incentive bonus and benefits package. Our client, based in the US, is a world-wide supplier of engineering services to existing and new mass timber highway bridges. Due to the rapid growth of this privately-owned business, a need exists for a Senior Structural Timber Engineer to develop and design timber repairs and new construction of wood highway bridges. The new hire will also review design parameters to provide value engineering options for various timber structure alternatives. This position provides support to the Timber Engineering Manager and reports to the Director of Engineering, Testing and Inspections. Responsibilities include technical support of field inspectors… directing the timber engineering department in the design of new timber highway bridges and retrofitting of existing ones… directing the CAD department in the development of design, construction and shop drawings… and assisting various departments in the development of standardized drawings and procedures. Candidate requirements include a BS Degree in wood structural (or related) engineering, 5-years experience in the wood-based structural engineering field, Professional Engineering Registration in the United States, understanding all facets of the construction process, leadership and management skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and a willingness to travel domestically and internationally for at least 70% of the work time. Millwrights, Electricians and Electronic Techs for Pacific NW and Southeast Wood Products Mills: $21-$30/hr, plus Overtime and Benefit Package
Attention NCO Vets: Skilled mechanical and electrical NCO techs serving in the USN or USAF.....  Due to the pending retirements of maintenance technicians within our client companies, a critical need exists for skilled technicians with preventative maintenance skills to service high-tech mill operations. Wood Product Structural Engineers
Annual income can exceed $120,000. Due to the pending growth in engineered wood product sales of CLT’s and glulams, several of our mass timber-based clients are seeking certified structural engineers with a PE or an EIT and 3+ years of wood construction application experience. The focus is on interfacing with the architectural and construction sales staff to insure that designs satisfy all local building codes applicable to using structural wood-based components. Wood Adhesive Technologists
Annual compensation can exceed $100,000. Our CLT and glulam clients are seeking candidates with a BS in Wood Technology and 3+ years of wood structural component testing experience to oversee the sampling and product quality testing of a wide variety of softwood lumber species in CLT components designed to meet the strength specifications developed by the APA. Customers require specific testing results on shipped products prior to receipt at the specific CLT and glulam construction sites. This is a leading-edge job opportunity for candidates with goals to expand our client’s customer base. Annual base salary and bonus packages are very competitive. Well established forest product project engineering consulting firm in the NW is seeking skilled talent to service new clients focused on efficiently converting logs to lumber. Projects range from preliminary design to final design, construction and startups. CAD Designers can make $3,500+ per week, Project Engineers $4,500+ per week.
